October Thrills In New Jersey

The leaves will start to change from shades of green to orange, red or even yellow. The blazing heat will start to become brittle and crisp. Those storage bins filled with your heavy sweaters will start to make an appearance again..and the list goes on! Though change is difficult sometimes, New Jersey is filled with an abundance of invigorating activities as summer transitions into fall. Apples and pumpkins call for memorable times with friends and family!

 

Happy Day Farm 

Every weekend in October, Happy Day Farm, located in Manalapan, will be launching a “Fall Harvest Festival.” There will be over 35 activities taking place for people of all ages to enjoy. Some include hayrides, corn mazes, pig races, tractor rides and a petting zoo. Make sure to come hungry because there will be mouth-watering concessions selling pizza, burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders and french fries. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect place to splurge as you devour freshly baked apple fritters, zeppoles, funnel cakes and fried oreos! Be sure to roam the apple and pumpkin patches until you find the perfect ones to either cook or decorate!

 

Jack O’ Lantern Experience

Who isn’t mesmerized to view meticulous artwork carved on a pumpkin? From October 1st-November 7th, there is an event designated just for this! Located at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, 6,000 Jack O’ Lanterns will be lined for a walk-through to take place. In addition, the stadium will also be hosting a Fall Fest with seasonal food and drinks, amusement park rides, pumpkin painting and live music. Over 30 signature craft beers will also be available for purchase. It’s certainly ideal for a family outing or date night that people of all ages can appreciate. Make sure to purchase your tickets, they are expected to sell out fast!

Laurita Winery 

After a stressful and draining week of work, relaxing always sounds like the way to go. Located in New Egypt, Oktoberfest” will be taking place at Laurita Winery on October 2nd and 3rd. Stop by to experience a variety of food trucks as they will be the highlight of the evening. 13 vendors will be attending, such as Cold Stone Creamery, Rescue Rolls, Star of the Sea, Snack Shack, Mexi-Boys and Cousins Maine Lobsters. As you grab a bite to eat, remain on your feet because there will be a live band playing music all night. People of all ages are welcomed to join, but if you are not of legal age, the entrance cost is free! Make sure to stay until the sun goes down; there will be a firework show at dusk that you won’t want to miss!
